Family, a group of persons united by the ties of marriage, blood, or adoption, constituting a single household and interacting with each other in their respective social positions, usually those of spouses, parents, children, and siblings. What is your opinion about the family? Is it really necessary?
You would probably know how much of a struggle it is to get your kids off gadgets and limit screen time. While the pandemic has definitely increased the hours every child spends in front of screens, the biggest hurdle could be the one you face while making your child eat. This results in conflict.
• Single parents family :
The increasing number of children residing in single-parent households often has been linked to many of the nation's most serious social problems, including delinquency, teenaged pregnancy and welfare dependency; in fact, it is widely believed that single-parent families represent a risk factor for childrens.
• Grandparents family :
Children raised by their grandparents are at an increased risk for emotional and behavioral problems in adulthood. Early in their lives these children have experienced divided loyalties, rejection, loss, guilt and anger. Many children feel disappointed and hurt by their parents' actions and lack of time spent together.
• Teenager conflicts with parents :
There is no doubt that adolescence can be a difficult period for both youngsters and their parents. Although some people believe that conflict at this time does more harm than good, I would argue that it is an essential stage of teenagers’ development.For example, it is quite common for young people to begin smoking at their age to impress their peers, but the resulting confrontations with parents can lead to difficulties with communications afterwards. In contrast, if there is no conflict between parents and teenagers, there will be a much greater sense of happiness among family members.
• Rivalry between Siblings :
Sibling rivalry is the jealousy, competition and fighting between brothers and sisters. It is a concern for almost all parents of two or more kids. Problems often start right after the birth of the second child. Sibling rivalry usually continues throughout childhood and can be very frustrating and stressful to parents.
• Controversy in family events :
Families often argue about topics related to major and even minor events, on issues such as: who is on (and who is left out of) the invite list, who is paying for what, which dates work for everyone, the location of the event, and who to use as vendors. Everyone involved construes their own needs as top priority…which makes resolving family arguments about events pretty difficult.
* Joint family - The Disaster :
Lack of privacy is a common complaint among people who live in a joint family. ... Everyone knows everything about all the members of the family and this leads to interference in daily matters. More often than not, this interference is not appreciated and people end up hiding things so that others mind their own business.
• Comparison with other family members:
There's bound to be a good amount of comparison if there are people of the same age in the family. So, it's pretty normal for the older family members to talk about how well-behaved one bahu is as compared to the other. Yes, it can be annoying!
• Dealing with in-laws :
Women especially in India are usually conflicted when it comes to living together with their in-laws after marriage. Even though starting a new life with your partner is exciting, the apprehension that comes with the thought of having to live under the same roof with your in-laws can be difficult to deal with for some women.
• Disputesss in family business :
Conflicts in family businesses are rarely caused by poor business performance; most conflicts arise because the family owners perceive that their needs are not met. ... Some family members will be active shareholders involved in running of the business while other family members may just be passive shareholders.
• Money Dissension :
One of the most common types of family conflict is, you guessed it, Money. People get into all sorts of arguments and family disagreements over money. ... Witnessing families split apart over money matters is extremely sad and yet all too common.
• Siblings conflict over care of elderly parents :
Sibling alienation occurs when one adult sibling wants to push aside another. While sibling alienation can occur at any point, one sibling may be especially tempted to alienate another in order to gain control of care-taking or inheritance outcomes with aging parents.
• Making adjustments:
If you are from a nuclear family then a joint household can be daunting. For instance, cooking three times a day for 20-odd people who like different kinds of food. Plus, every house has its own rules and this one may have too many to deal with.
* Nuclear Family - The act of God :
In nuclear family both husband and wife adopt profession outside the family, then children are neglected and looked after by the servants. They feel lonely and emotional insecure. They develop more anxiety. If the bread winner dies or becomes incapable to en, there is no one to support the family.Work out if the issue is worth fighting over. Try to separate the problem from the person. Try to cool off first if you feel too angry to talk calmly. Keep in mind that the idea is to resolve the conflict, not win the argument.
