Since Independence (1947), India is still one of the poorest countries in the world. Other countries, much smaller than India, have surged forward. Of the world’s poor, every third person is an Indian, and the number is on the increase. What are your suggestions to make India a developed country?
There is one cousin of mine who is still not employed and he falls into the middle-class category(It feels sad to use this term). Its very difficult to imagine their situation but I have a basic idea of how he and his family feels.
Some of the variables on which the poor differ from others are degree of participation in the labour force, kind of employment, characteristics of family, degree of knowledge of the larger society, political awareness, awareness of social and economic rights, and value orientations in politics, religion and social customs.
* Now what is the situation when there is no job?
• Frustration: Yes,the first and the foremost thing is the ill feeling of being unemployed especially when you belong to a middle class category. You have so many responsibilities to fulfill but there is hardly anything you can do about it.
• Lower self confidence: Your confidence is just shattered from head to toe. Its difficult for you to lift yourself up. You even doubt whether you will ever get a job.
• Issues with other family members: You and your family start getting into conflict amongst yourself and also with other members. It keeps on increasing day-by-day and it continues to increase.
*Now what is the situation when freshers join a job?
There is another cousin of mine who is employed as a fresher and has faced many problems after joining his job.
• Hesitations while sharing the opinion :
Mostly, freshers in their jobs do not have a lot of experience. This can hamper their confidence and in a new environment, it can become really difficult for them to voice their opinions in front of other staff.
• Adjusting to the new environment :
An office environment is fairly a new space for a fresher. Coming from college, this can be a different experience, in some cases, a cultural shock too. From being a senior in college to becoming a junior in the office could be a tough transition. Try communicating with other people who joined with you as a fresher.
• Time Management :
Managing time in college compared to the office could be different. College was more flexible whereas, in office, you have limited time to deliver your work. Commuting from work to office also takes up a lot of time. With work also comes a lot of responsibility.
• Lack of technological knowledge :
In college, the education provided is mostly bound to a syllabus. It is almost all theoretical. While college teaches you about the work, what you do not learn is the technology that a specific job might require.
• Working as a team :
In most corporations, people work as a team. It could be a new setting for a fresher to work. I think not many people are comfortable with working in a team. You have to commit your bit because you can’t impose that on anyone.
Challenges make life worth living. Despite these generic challenges that freshers face in the corporate world, there are always new things to learn and new areas to explore.
In this present scenario, people think as the subtitle suggest - The Rise, continued part may be - The Rule. But the Chapter is beyond your imagination.
